IT'S ABOUT TRAINING PEOPLE, NOT TRAINING DOGS!
FAQs
Would you like to get answers to some of your burning questions? We’ve got you covered! Here are some frequently asked questions.
-
Are virtual sessions as effective as in-person sessions?Yes! At least OUR virtual program is. And here's why: - To get long-lasting results, dog owners need to earn their dog’s trust and respect, along with having to be the same way and do the same things that a dog professional would be doing. - A dog professional that truly understands dogs doesn’t need to see a dog behave a certain way to know what the problem is, how it was created, and how to fix it. - Bringing a new person into the household will distrupt the dynamic of the household, which will make the dog behavior differently than normal. - We use prerecorded videos and our own dogs to demonstrate various techniques and exercises. - It can make available all the guidance, support, and knowledge that may not otherwise be available in your geographical location. - There is a great deal of misinformation, along with unknowledgeable and unreliable dog professionals out there. - And... it is considerably less expensive than in-person sessions.

Is it true that 2 female dogs can't coexist in the same household?ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Those who claim this to be true are those individuals who lack the proper knowledge and skills needed to fix the underlying issues. The fact is that state of mind of a dog is what matters. 2 dominant personalities, regardless of sex, who don't have the necessary leadership, directions, boundaries, and limits, will fight to see which one will be the pack-leader. That's why at Packman to the Rescue, we focus on providing our clients with the PROPER knowledge and skills that are truly needed to have a dog that is happy, fulfilled and well-behaved.

I've worked with other dog trainers but have gotten no results. Why is that? We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: It’s about training people, NOT training dogs! At Packman to the Rescue, we don’t believe in using treats and tricks to get your dog to behave. Our approach is unique to any other dog trainer, which is why our results speak for themselves. We teach people how to create a relationship with their dog that is based on trust, respect, and love. We help you change your mindset and help you connect with your dog through proper dog communication skills and dog psychology strategies.

Does a dog professional need to see a dog behave badly in order to fix the problem? No! A dog professional, that truly understands dogs (psychology and communication), doesn’t need to see a dog behave a certain way to know what the problem is, how it was created and how to fix it. The last thing we want is for your dog to bite or attack. The whole point is to fix THE REASON why the dog bit or attacked. Therefore, there won't be any more incidents. At Packman to the Rescue, we just need you to answer a few questions, and that will be enough for us to know exactly how to fix the issues causing the bad behaviors.
-
Is my dog too old to be trained or to fix his/her bad behaviors?HELL NO!!! The old saying: "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" is total bullsh*t. Those who claim this to be true are those individuals who lack the proper knowledge and skills needed to fix the underlying issues. Dogs will always want to gravitate towards being balanced regardless of their age. We have rehabilitated dogs with legitimate behavioral issue who were as old as 15.

How long will it take to "train" my dog?Having a "trained" dog is different than having a dog that is happy, fulfilled and well-behaved. Achieving the latter is not up to us and it's not up to your dog. It will all depend on how quickly you're going to absorb the material and how consistent you're going to be.
-
Should I have someone "train" my dog for me (ie Board & Train)? To get long-lasting results, dog owners need to earn their dog’s trust and respect, along with having to be the same way and do the same things that a dog professional would be doing. Many trainers use adverse methods in order to get the dog to do what they want. Many trainers will physically exhaust the dog in order to create the illusion of calmness and good behavior. And obviously, most people can't sustain that lifestyle. Most training facilities will focus on teaching your dog obedience commands. These are some of the reasons why we believe that it's about training people, NOT training dogs.
-
What is the difference between you guys and other dog trainers?Dog trainers teach dogs to perform tricks. They use treats and obedience commands to fix and address problem behaviors. They don't know or understand dog psychology and dog communication. We teach people how to create a relationship with their dog that is based on trust, respect, and love. We provide dog lovers/owners with the proper knowledge, tools, and skills to make their dogs happy, fulfilled and well-behaved. It's about training people, not training dogs.

What is the secret to having a dog that is happy, fulfilled & well-behaved?Work… Rules… and then Reward. Everything in balance. Everything in proportion. - Canines require appropriate mental and physical stimulation. - They also need to know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. In the absence of an authority figure that they trust and respect, dogs will assume the role of pack leader and do whatever it is that they feel is appropriate. But the key is for humans to be calm and firm, in equal proportions. - Food, toys, treats, affection, attention, playtime, etc. These are all forms of reward.
